20mm solid oak flooring is a substantial and durable choice, made entirely from real oak. Its thickness provides excellent strength and allows the surface to be sanded and refinished several times, helping a well-maintained floor last for generations.
It can usually be secret-nailed to a suitable timber subfloor or fully bonded to a properly prepared solid base. The natural grain, knots and colour variation give every floor a distinctive character that improves with age.
Because solid oak naturally expands and contracts as temperature and humidity change, correct acclimatisation and installation are essential. For underfloor heating, engineered oak flooring is generally the more stable choice.
